moving images are still images was an experimental screening and performance platform that took place at Heavy Manners Library, the former site of the historic Machine Project in Echo Park. The show featured twelve artists (10 film, 1 reading, 1 music) exploring absence to unlock urgent channels of poetry, sincerity, and romance. Curated by Greg Jenkins, miasi positioned emerging talents alongside artists with exhibition history at MoMA, MoMA PS1, the Guggenheim, Sundance, Locarno, and Rotterdam. miasi earned recognition as one of the weekend’s top art openings by Shana Nys Dambrot in LA Weekly, and was the only art show featured in Los Angeles Magazine’s weekend roundup. The show was proudly associated with Gallery Association of LA’s Art Weekend Los Angeles.
