grand opening
November 14-December 8, 2024
7471 Melrose Ave, #5
West Hollywood, CA
For “Grand Opening,” each artist received a set of primary acrylic colors, a brush, and a primed 4x4 inch canvas for free. They had roughly one month to make work with those materials, maybe less.
The show aimed to solve pressure, to relieve strain from the following couples: artist/market, artist/viewer, artist/curator, curator/viewer, artist/artist, and artist/art. Perhaps then, without pressure, we might better find a more untethered art.
“Grand Opening” was supported in part by an arts grant from the City of West Hollywood.
The exhibition was curated by Greg Jenkins and included work by Marcel Humberto Monroy & B. Anele, Joachim Castaneda, Siena Foster-Soltis, Jake Freilich, Luke Haeger, Dallas Havoc, Christine Yerie Lee, Nikki Ochoa, Joshua Stasik Prince, Liz Lee & Emma Pryde, Naomi Sam, Gabby Sones, Meat Stevens, Ethan Tate, Advik Beni & Nehal Vyas, and Jacob Wolff.
